I’m translating from contemporary Dutch into English. News articles are usually translated flawlessly, but more technical, higher level Dutch, or academic Dutch can be very frustrating because Deepl provides multiple translations that only differ slightly. Nevertheless, I have to slug through all those duplication to eliminate them. Upon reading a review of Deepl’s work, I still find duplication.

Mostly, I use DeepL to improve my German and Spanish writing. (I'm a native English speaker.) The suggested rewrites, which I employ sentence-by-sentence, are generally clear and often include helpful adjustments to vocabulary and phrasing.

Eftersom det är frågan om ett översättningsprogram, skriver jag på svenska. Jag är riktigt nöjd med DeepL. Jag använder det sporadiskt, både som betal- och gratisversion. DeepL fungerar utmärkt för små språk också, vilket i mitt fall är viktigt. Som med alla översättningsprogram, måste man veta vad man översätter och till vad man översätter det. Det är rätt lite man behöver korrigera.
Good translator that catches the context
It's a very powerful translator. I mostly use it between English, French, and German. However, a couple of years ago they added Ukrainian, and this comes handy sometimes. The translator traces the context: if I choose to translate some word in a specific gender or in a specific way (you = "tu" or "vous"), it propagates this way of translation to all the text that follows. The only improvement suggestion that I have is that if I change another word earlier in the text, then other words later in the text get reset to their default translation. But maybe this is a limitation of the free version?
A very good application for scientific texts
I have been using DeepL for approximately two years. With both literary and non-literary texts. There are problems with literary texts, e.g. Czech writer Karel Čapek. Practically, no phrase may remain as such, the text must be refined. Nevertheless, it reduces the time of translating by approximately 15–20%, which is not bad. The application works considerably better with non-fiction. I have tested mainly with texts using terminology specific to history, archaeology and linguistics. The results seem good, even excellent. For example, a 10-page study in linguistics has been translated very fast, and with very few errors.

Although I acknowledge the importance of a review from an already user of deepl translator, yet I must be honest to the New users of deepl services. First of all, the deepl translator is not just a simple, ordinary translator, it's more than that, it's a complete AI service translation tool. I recommend it to those who have serious jobs that must communicate to a broader group of people. The minus in this review is that the service is paid, with a limited permission in using it for few paragraphs per day. Remember that deepl started from 5000 characters, then 2500, 1500, and now is limited to just a 1500 for very few pasted texts. I highly recommend it to professionals and those who have serious reasons for translation services. It's a tool, it's not just a translator text. There is still free space for competitors of course.

I loved it and NEEDED it as I've moved to a country whose language I don't speak. The updated AI version is worse and I only signed up for the service once but didn't renew. Still, it's the best for higher end, professional translations for everyday business that I've found.

I typically only write bad reviews simply because things should work the way customer service oriented businesses say they will and then don't. But not with DeepL. This is a lifesaver app with multiple options to help you. If you need dependable and reliable translation services, DeepL is the way to go! Thanks DeepL!!!

I subscribed to DeepL Pro specifically to translate complete books, exactly as advertised. In practice, I was unable to translate even a single book. This is not a minor limitation but a fundamental failure of the core feature that motivated the purchase. The product does not deliver what is promised, and the support/solution center is ineffective, providing no clear explanation, fix, or resolution. What makes this especially disappointing is that billing works perfectly, while the advertised functionality does not. Charging users for a service that cannot be used as described is unacceptable. My experience has been frustrating, time-wasting, and disappointing. Until DeepL delivers the features it promotes and offers competent customer support, I cannot recommend paying for this subscription.
