Tarif totalement exagéré pour ce qui est proposée et ne parlons même pas de la limite de traductions de 1500 mots, qui est étais déjà assez faible auparavant avant d'être encore plus réduite pour incité les gens a payer, répugnant.

Während ich einen Text schreibe und übersetzte, bekomme ich die Meldung, dass ich die kostenlose Version erst wieder in 24 Stunden nutzen kann. Ich kann den Text nicht mehr kopieren, muss ihn komplett neu schreiben und übersetzen. 0 Sterne werden ab heute den Übersetzer nicht mehr nutzen.

Jetzt haben die auch das Zahlungsmodell entdeckt und die täglichen Übersetzungen stark reduziert. An einem Tag kann ich vollständig übersetzen um am nächsten Tag die Meldung zu erhalten, jetzt ist Schluss damit und es geht nichts mehr zu übersetzen. Dann suche ich mir halt neue Übersetzer.

Deepl used to be superior to google translate, but they have contantly chipped away at the character count: first it was 5K, they reduced it to 3K, now reduced it to 1.5K. Sure you can use 5K at a time, but this means giving away your details (create an account, etc.) and being constantly monitored and your input going to God-know-where and to be sold to God-knows-what-carefully-selected-business-partners. Can I be bothered to create an account and then log in, when every now and then all I need is just to get the meaning of more than a couple of paragraphs? Not really, google translate works fine. re. deepl (rarely, but still), the results contain some stunning mistranslations, so I wouldn't be using deepl for languages I know absolutely nothing about. There used to be a way to correct (report) those mistranslations (crowdsourcing) but I don't think they register anywhere, seems it's like spitting against the wind (or against the algorithms). The desktop app is a jaggernaut, when all it does is repeat what browser access does. The app DID have some practical use, accessing translation in any program on Windows (likewise, android variant). This worked very well - for a day. Then it stopped (God knows, perhaps I pressed some obscure key combination by mistake?!) and reinstalling it didn't help. It still didn't work, so I chucked it out, same with android variant. No way to search for solutions online, no support, no responses, no suggestions, nothing. And then, when you think: 'well, you get what you pay for! - i.e. pay nothing, get nothing, you read comments from people who pay for this service and complain about EXACTLY the same issues, i.e. no support when things go wrong. Why bother then, when I can still get 5K of text from google translate without all this faff, and frankly, it's good enough. In fact, where google translate falls short, deepl is better, and - strangely enough - vice versa. But to get the meaning, I'm not going to create an account and give up more data than I do with google translate.

Deepl war einmal eine gute Übersetzungswebseite. Jetzt wird die Übersetzung von Deutsch nach Englisch plötzlich auf 1.500 Wörter begrenzt und dieses Limit ist in manchen Fällen sehr schnell erreicht. Dann heißt es in der Werbung: "Melden Sie sich kostenlos an, um mehr als 1.500 Wörter übersetzen zu können." Ich gebe also meine E-Mail und ein gutes Passwort ein und melde mich an. Wenn ich mich das nächstemal einloggen will, kommt diese Meldung: "Die eingegebenen Anmeldedaten sind nicht korrekt. Bitte überprüfen Sie Ihre E-Mail-Adresse und Ihr Passwort und versuchen Sie es erneut." Ich habe es noch ein zweites mal auf mich genommen, das Passwort zu ändern, denn an der E-Mailadresse liegt es garantiert nicht. Beim drittenmal reichte es mir dann und ich pfeife auf die Anmeldung und bleibe eben bei 1.500 Worten. Der Übersetzer ist der beste, denn ich kenne, darum auch zwei Sterne. Vielleicht finde ich etwas besseres. Wie ich hier auch gelesen habe, sind die Abonnements viel zu teuer. Ich lasse mich nicht von dieser Kölner Firma abzocken.

As soon as you sign up for the ”free trial”, DeepL will immediately collect the annual fee from your credit card — multiple times within 24 hours!! And there is no way to log in and actually use the service (you‘ll find yourself caught in a loop). To reach Support, you’d have to log in. There is no other way to contact Support or anyone else at DeepL. The physical address given in Germany seems to be a mail box — nobody answers mail sent there. Log-in is also required to cancel a subscription. The only way to stop DeepL draining your bank account is by blocking your credit card and getting a new one. Good luck getting your money back — my lawyer has been chasing them through Swiss and German courts for months. All in vain. Unbelievable!!!

English: DeepL used to be the preferable alternative to Google translate. However, recently I have noticed that (at least on the free version) the quality has dropped considerably. Also unlike Google the operators give a damn on improving the system's capabilities. Google permits corrections to be put forward. Additionally DeepL has recently introduced a rdicolously low character limit per day. One cannot help thinking the product ceased to be useful as a free tool. Upgrading to the Pro Version by paying for the product, was a thought, but given the company's unprofessional antics, I feel it would be a bad idea. Translation quality in general: I am fluent in German, English, French, Spanish and Italian which I regularly use. The drawback with Google always was (and is): Translations between language couples other than English, are always executed via English, beiieve it or not (there are some exceptions) Now I've thought that DeepL could do better. But it can't. The only advantage, DeepL had, was that it applied A.I. in a more dedicated and aggressive manner than Google. But that comes at a high price. It consists in translation errors, text omissions etc., that are absent in Google that opts for a less creative, but safer method. So DeepL is recommended for professional translators only who desire to save time on typing. Every damn sentence has to be checked for errors. But the following applies: Both Google and DeepL are trained to spot parallel professionally translated documents they integrate in their database. So occasionally one can be lucky and hit one of those goldmines. But you never know how far the coverage extends. That's the risk there is.
MAJOR BUG - NIGHTMARE - AVOID & NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
This product has a major bug and it is a real nightmare. Plus, there's no active customer service available - period. Using this app will litter your desktop with multiple 'sha256new...' folders THAT CANNOT BE DELETED even though it includes another folder that pretends to provide the solution to the problem that DeepL has just created for you. It's like this app is some kind of gag. Avoid this product at all costs.
Eigentlich tolles Programm
Eigentlich tolles Programm. Für die gelegentliche Nutzung war die kostenlose Version völlig ausreichend. Jetzt bekomme ich aber die Meldung, dass ich mein "weekly limit" erreicht habe, obwohl ich gestern und heute nur wenige Sätze übersetzt habe. Upgrade auf die günstigste "Pro"-Version kostet 90 € im Jahr. Dann nutze ich lieber wieder Google Translate.

Very very dissapointed about the company. Already in June I tried to contact them, no contact. We started to use them and the only thing they do is charging on my credit card. Changed the subscription and again they charged next to the subscription a new amount from my credit card. DON'T START WORKING WITH THEM tried to contact them but no success!

I really like deepl. In many situations when Google Translate makes a mistake, deepl gives a good result. I only once noticed that the translation from Google Translate was more accurate. Thanks to the team for such a product!

Couldn't unsubscribe
I subscribed for a free trial period, and in the end I was unable to quit it. I read all the Help center chapters and FAQ-s about it, but how they described it, it simply did not work! So I wrote them an email, they did not respond. Fun fact: you can only write them on their own interface, you do not get any proof (confirmation letter or whatever) that you submitted a claim. In the end I had to block my credit card in order to avoid getting charged. Never again.
Can't be cancelled and zero support (UPDATED)
The service is more or less useful, not mentioning that it can not proceed the simplest PDF sometimes. I'd be good with that if there was at least an option to stop paying for this nonsense: once paid for an upgraded plan, they keep charging me monthly. Downgrade did no job, cancellation option just doesn't exist in my account settings. Tried to send a support request, saying that I'm having trouble unsubscribing using their FAQ and need more help — they've replied with an automatic message, quoting an FAQ article that I'm having trouble with. It's literally 1 out of 5 for me, not only because of poor service, but due to the translation quality problems as well. UPD: the CS team got back to me with the solution after all
