Constant Crashes and Freezes
The DeepL desktop app is completely useless. It constantly freezes, crashes for no reason, and consumes an absurd amount of memory. I expected reliability, but instead I got a trash app that can’t even run smoothly on a normal computer. This is by far the worst translation app I’ve ever used.
Imponerende hurtigt og høj kvalitet!
Jeg havde brug for at få oversat en betjeningsvejledning på en kompliceret maskine til dansk. Denne havde jeg tilgængelig i docx-format, og filen indeholdt en speciel formattering og indhold placeret i tekstbokse og tabeller. I alt 99 sider. Jeg købte et individual Pro abonnement og hentede Windowsprogrammet fra DeepL ned og installerede det på min computer. Efter 30 sek. modtog jeg et docx-dokument retur med hele betjeningsvejledningen og resultatet var 98% korrekt oversat. Kun enkelte fagspecifikke termer og ord skulle jeg lave om, og der var også nogle steder forskel i oversættelsen af tiltlen i indholdsfortegnelsen og så teksten ved det aktuelle afsnit i dokumentet. Det var hurtigt klaret med søg/erstat. Tegninger og billeder der indeholdt tekst er selvfølgelig ikke blevet oversat, men det var heller ikke forventet. Layoutet på oversættelsen var nøjagtigt som i originaldokumentet - imponerende!!
macOS App eine Katastrophe
Ich frage mich ernsthaft, wer bei DeepL auf die Idee gekommen ist, eine gut funktionierende App durch etwas zu ersetzen, das seit Monaten nur Probleme bereitet. Früher lief der Shortcut CMD+CC völlig problemlos. Seit einiger Zeit jedoch spinnt die Erkennung, und das DeepL-Fenster springt ständig ungefragt nach vorn. Der Support wurde mehrfach darauf hingewiesen und hat sogar bestätigt, dass das Verhalten bewusst geändert wurde, weigert sich aber, es wieder rückgängig zu machen. Warum man an diesem schlechteren Verhalten festhält, bleibt völlig unverständlich. Noch frustrierender: - Der Shortcut kann nicht deaktiviert werden. - Eine alternative Belegung (z. B. CMD+DD, um Konflikte mit der Copy-Funktion zu vermeiden) ist nicht möglich. - In der App selbst führt CMD+A häufig dazu, dass die komplette Anwendung markiert wird, anstatt nur der Text. Unterm Strich ist die App mittlerweile mehr Ärger als Hilfe. Ich bin so genervt, dass ich ernsthaft darüber nachdenke, sie komplett zu deinstallieren und zu einem anderen Anbieter zu wechseln.

Filled to the brim with ads banners and such. Barely works on PC and doesnt work on the phone at all. They first tried focing users to download their app then miserably failed and now just milk whats left.

Ich kann nur die kostenlose App bewerten. Die Übersetzungen sind top! Toll auch über "STRG + CC" direkt aus jeder Anwendung heraus. Andere wie z.B. der Google Translator sind enttäuchend
Annoying AI
I didn't need it, but it was forced. So, I attempted to shut it off, as it was interrupting my typing, but it wasn't working, the small icon kept popping up - so annoying.
Get rid of Cloudflare, it's annoying
Deep is good when it comes to translation but lately it's been the worst thing you can use, especially with that Cloudflare pop-up window that you have to verify each time you open deepl.com. And even when u verify it it freezes. Get rid of Cloudflare

I bought a high tier subscription to…
I bought a high tier subscription to translate some videos, i attempted to translate a batch of videos but they wouldn't download so when I refreshed to try again, the previous batch counted towards my monthly download limit making me not able to translate and complete my task. I contacted them through 2 different avenues to let them know half my monthly allowance has essentially disappeared, it's been 2 weeks i still haven't heard anything. I have essentially wasted 60$. There is zero customer service.

Unathorized charges. I never signed up for DeepL nor heard of it. I started getting charges to my card for no reason. There is no customer support
Deeply flawed
I use DeepL for Japanese to English. It's good sometimes but totally awful sometimes. Problems: the developers were too lazy to load common Japanese grammar and idioms (I have pointed this out to them directly at least twice, so they can't say they didn't know). Instead they try a literal translation which often results in errors that a 5-year-old would laugh at. Other times it just omits things that it doesn't understand (like an entire key sentence from a paragraph). GUI problem: I always use it for Japanese to English but I have to set this up each time I open the program. If I allow it to "recognize" the input language, it often chooses Chinese. They also force the user to scroll down for the translation instead of having it alongside the input as it used to be. Finally, unlike Google translate, it does not give pronunciation for Japanese words. Overall, two stars is generous.

I opted for a monthly subscription, it put me in a yearly one and now they ask me for $300. They are insane! I just found out by finding an invoice in my inbox. Seems like an elaborate scam.
DeepL - tief enttäuscht, aber ohne Kosten
In einem kostenlosen Probeabo von 30 Tagen hatte ich von Deepl ein PDF-Buch von Estnisch in Deutsch übersetzen lassen, war aber mit dem Ergebnis sehr unzufrieden, weil zu viele Fehler enthalten waren und z. B. auch Bidunterschriften unlesbar in die Bilder verschoben waren. Dann wollte ich eigentlich die kostenlose PRO-Version testen, um zu sehen, ob diese ein besseres Ergebnis liefere. Wie ich überrascht feststellte, war dieses Angebot aber eine Falle, denn es wurde ein Jahresabovertrag, den ich sofort wieder widerrufen habe, als ich sah, dass auch die PRO-Version keine deutlich bessere Übersetzung geliefert hat. Auf meine Kritik bot man mir als Alternative einen monatlich kündbaren Vertrag an, für dessen Annahme ich mich nicht entscheiden wollte, weil der ja auch keine brauchbare Übersetzung geliefert hätte. Ich nahm an, die Firma würde meinen Widerruf und die schriftliche Kündigung als Rücktritt vom Vertrag wegen nicht genügender Leistung betrachten, sehe aber heute, dass die Gebühr für das Jahresabo (stolze 299,88 EURO) schon von meinem Konto abgebucht wurde. Ich bekam allerdings von einem Mitarbeiter des von DeepL beauftragten Inkassoinstituts auf meinen zornigen Kommentar zu dieser Vorgehensweise den Tipp, die Lastschrift bei der Bank rückgängig zu machen, was ich eben getan habe und nun hoffe, dass mein Recht als Verbraucher auf Rücktritt vom Vertrag somit gewahrt wird.

The limitation per months even when you…
The limitation per months even when you pay is basically rubbish. Their support is non existant. Been trying to get my suscription cancelled and get a partial refund, they don’t answer mail at all. This is litterally a scam.
They’re just scammers!
Last month they added translation limits without first updating the plans page — for about a day I had no idea what was going on until they finally updated it. When I found out about the new 1-million-character limit for the $30 plan, I upgraded to the $60 plan. And now, today, October 22, 2025 — with the highest subscription tier — I’m once again getting limit warnings! Just 16 days after their ridiculous updates, there are problems again. I absolutely do not recommend DEEPL — this time I’m cancelling my subscription for good.
Plan's limitation keep changing
I subscribed to a plan that includes documents, but now I’m blocked by an error message saying I’ve exceeded the character limit or something similar. Meanwhile, each document already has its own character limit. I’ve just canceled my plan.
I have paid for DeepL Pro
I have paid for DeepL Pro. It crashed and cannot be used at all. I cancelled and then paid again and same problem reoccurs. Customer support is non-existent. Absolutely miserable quality as well as service. Avoid at all costs
DeepL used to be good
DeepL used to be good; now it's getting worse with every update: - The Mac client is awful. CMD+C+C stops working after a few minutes. - Client has to be restarted frequently. - Glossary terms are ignored. - Formal "you" is used when informal "you" is selected. - Constant lags and outages. - Inconsistencies. - Literal translation of idioms. - Awkward phrasings (like a teenager wrote the texts.) Would not recommend.
Bei kurzen Texten mag es noch angehen
Bei kurzen Texten, vor allem im formalen Stil, mag es hingehen. Längere Texte werden zum Teil so schlecht übersetzt, dass man seinen Augen nicht traut. Auslassungen, zum Teil einfach Sätze in der Ursprungssprache übernommen; keine Grammatik. Als ich DeepL zum ersten Mal abonniert hatte, gab es ein Bezahlmodell. Inzwischen ist mein Modell zu einem Startermodell degeneriert, und zwei sehr viel teurere Modell draufgesetzt. Bin sowohl von der Qualität als auch von der Geschäftspolitik enttäuscht.
