Utter madness
Utter madness, It wont let me pay and come up with an error message no matter what browser I use. Then when you try and contact them with the error code it says you can only contact them, if your a paid members. but how can you become a paid member if it wont take your payment, wasted a lot of time messing about with this, shame use to be very good.

App keeps crashing in Windows
I have a subscription. The quality of the translations is very good. However, the app keeps crashing all the time. I've had issues for months now, often having to delete the app and download it again. It'll work for a day or two and then refuses to open again, or does open but gives an error and cannot be used, or asks me for a paid subscription. Which I already have. Sick & tired of it, I unsubscribed. Don't see the point in paying for an app that is not functioning at all half the time.

I have been using DeepL for three years. I was very happy initially, so I have been paying for a Pro account for two years now. For several months, I have regularly had issues with using features in the desktop application - I am regularly prompted to upgrade to Pro, which I already have. It just wastes so much of my precious time when it does not work, and then again when I have to write to support. It used to work just fine, but it is not getting better although the company added DeepL Write. I see that others have similar or same problems, and I am sorry that the quality of this app deteriorated so much. P.S. I would like to add that the translation is very good. I also appreciate the ability to create your own translation dictionary with favorite translations of words or expressions. It is the technical part of the desktop app that has deteriorated. Therefore, I am updating to add one star. I really hope that the criticism expressed on this website will help them to fix the problems. I would rather that than Deepl disbanding.

Premessa: ho l'abbonamento annuale Poiché avevo bisogno di una spinta in più e con la versione gratuita mi ero sempre trovata bene ho deciso di acquistare la versione premium ma l'applicazione desktop in versione premium va spesso in crash o non risponde. Quando ho scritto all'assistenza mi hanno detto che quando fa così per risolvere posso arrestare l'app e ravviarla. 200 euro l'anno per "segnere e riaccendere" un app almeno 8 volte al giorno mi sembrano un po' tantine...non credo proprio rinnoverò e soprattutto non la consiglio a chi deve ponderare l'acquisto di un abbonamento. Aggiornamento del 19/02/25. è sicuro che non rinnoverò. è un giorno che non riesco a usare deepL perché non va ne su app ne su browser. Ultimamente mi butta anche fuori spesso mentre lo utilizzo. Per me questa compagnia vale meno di zero. Non consiglio a nessuno di buttare via così i propri soldi.

Fake Technical Issues for DeepL
As a personal user, I used from time to time the free versioning to translate - and never reached the limit. My credit card have been expired ... so I add the new one. But ... NO WAY to translate ... it says "technical errors" ... and to contact the DeepL support you have to ... SUBSCRIBE TO DEEPL PRO ... what ?! That means paying a professional subscription ? Dirty tactics. As a serious company DeepL is presenting itself ... it is not possible to advertise AND accept "free" accounts while in practice you are lying about and try to hide behind invented technical issues. This DeepL tactic is illegal and fake advertising. Other people too ... when they update their credit card ... the subscription is finished. No worries DeepL ... here we came OpenAI ... I gradly pay THEM for exact usage instead a mandatory expensive subscription of DeepL.
Too expensive
Service and translations have been good so far. The pay for privacy/security model is abhorrent when it is behind an ridiculous €7.49 a month paywall. Please add a more consumer friendly pricing tier closer to €1 a month. I'd pay that in a second for something I use a couple times a month.
Words, yes; idioms, no.
2.5 stars (free version, with-out registration). For simple German to English and English to German, it gives good translations, and faster than Google Translate. How-ever, it does not recognize common slang and idioms, giving word-for-word translations. I use it some-times, but for individual, tricky words, I recommend leo.org.

I have been using the free translator as provided. I like some features in Russian, altough they are bugged and are not working properly. I decided to create an account in order to be able to provide them with some userfeedback and statistics about my usage. Unfortunately they took advantage of this, and blocked the account, I can not use free translators and they are pushing me to register my card to try for 30 days. Their service is not so different from anyother translators, and for me, it is not worth paying for. I rather pay to use AI, since it translates much better than this, and helps with so many things more. Therefore, I have been continuing using their services after logging out, why would you be so pushy about selling your product when there are so many free alternatives that do the job better than you do? And that offer features that are much better than yours? Terrible.
Great product and customer support
I used DeepLPro for one year and their translation algorithm was top-notch. I also had a great experience with their customer service support who managed to solve and troubleshoot a big error, in a timely and friendly manner.
Scammed out of my credit card details.
I signed up for a monthly account, gave them my credit card number, address, etc. as usual when you make an online purchase. The bank accepted the transaction. The next screen was asking me to pay a subscription. Huh? I checked my email and there was an email from them sent seconds after I made the payment saying my subscription had been cancelled! Tried to contact support but you need a paid account to contact support. Contacted Sales and filled in a form telling them what the problem was - got an instant AI response that my issue was not for sales it was for support with a link to support which didn't work because my account had been cancelled. So they have my credit card details I have nothing but as bad taste that I've been scammed by what I thought was a good, reliable company. However, there was not actual charge on my bank account. Even more suspicious.

The app seems to offer exactly what I need, and the demo was really satisfying, So i decided to sing for the pro. Apparently theres a big errors, its been hours i am trying to pay, i tried with multiple cards but the same error comes up, this error does not exist in the support, and I cant contact the costumer service team because I need the pro to contact them ( but i cant sign pro if the same error keeps popping up) Just really annoying

Übersetzung okay, Software für den Müll
Die eigentliche Übersetzung ist okay, gefühlt war sie aber schon mal besser. Ich muss inzwischen deutlich öfter selbst in den übersetzten Text eingreifen. "Früher" hat es besser den Kontext verstanden und dann auch besser passende Wörter benutzt. Allerdings ist die Software inzwischen deutlich schlechter geworden. Alle paar Tage werde ich ausgeloggt, manchmal wird nur der erste Satz übersetzt usw. DeepL nervt inzwischen mehr, als dass es mir Freude macht. Greife oft auf ChatGPT oder Google Translate zurück. Nicht weil die Übersetzung so viel besser wäre, sondern weil die Benutzung einfacher ist und es zu weniger (eigentlich keine) Bugs kommt.
